Bedroom and bathroom renovation – Vic Fezensac

This project, which we will be following closely, is not yet complete. In 2022, the agency was commissioned to renovate a collection of old buildings with incredible character in the Gers. The kitchen, a yoga studio and the outdoor areas are currently under construction, but here we can get a glimpse of this major renovation project through the two bedrooms in the main house.

Both rooms are worthy of a hotel. The spaces are generous, with exceptionally high ceilings. The renovation has been understated, making the most of all the fabulous period features uncovered during the demolition phase (fireplace, brick flue, half-timbering, antique oak roof structure), yet very contemporary in terms of the design and layout of the spaces, as well as the choices of lighting, furniture and fittings. The materials used are all natural and eco-friendly, both for insulating the house and in the finishes.

This project is, I believe, the one that best reflects my work and what I love. It was divided into three phases of work. It is also a rather monumental project covering the entire estate and therefore involving a great deal of space (a quarter of the project is presented here in plans and photographs). We stripped back and restored the building, and from there we made the most of every incredible discovery. There was a strong initial vision, a guiding principle that we never strayed from, but on a technical level, every surprise presented a technical challenge to be resolved with the tradespeople, whilst keeping a tight rein on the budget. It would therefore have been very complicated to set out the entire design and monitoring process for this project in a detailed plan.

We were lucky enough to have a client who was completely on the same wavelength as us. I’ve been working for Mr J for five years and we’ve just completed all the outdoor work.
